Sometimes writing is the most fun when we’re given some external parameters for what we write. It provides a kind of container for our imagination that makes it easier to play.

So here are some clear parameters for this month’s writing prompt.

First, visit the Random Object Generator, click the “Generate” button, and see what object the generator provides for you.

Then, go to the Random Emotion Generator, click the “Generate” button, and see what emotion comes up.

Now, you’ll have an object and emotion that go together: for example, “cash register” and “confusion.”

Begin writing a story where your main character associates that object with the given emotion. See where the story takes you from there!
